I liked that we met our guide near the gallery vs some obscure address we're unaware of. Our guide was very knowledgeable and shared many tidbits with our group. Although the gallery was full of other groups, we were still able to get close to the art for a wonderful viewing. We'd highly recommend and will always use head out for future tours.

Our tour guide was awesome! The tour focused on the statues of Michealangelo, and that's what was interesting to me. The museum also has rooms of busts, paintings, and musical instruments!

The guide, Patricia, was extremely kind and had all the answers. You could tell she really loved the city and Florence's history. The pace and quality of the tour won us over.

Seeing the statue of David in person was amazing. We really loved seeing Michelangelo's unfinished statues as it helped us gain an understanding of his process. A video on gilded wooden panels was really interesting too. A stunningly finely embroidered tapestry was another favourite too. Had issues with both the Headout app & email on the day. I was able to access the app and tickets the night before but at the meeting pint neither the app or 'show tickets' tab in the email would open. Very weird. I had no trouble with any other travel apps on my phone so it wasn't an Internet access issue. Also, I had booked for 9:30am session but the 2 tickets the host gave us were forv8:55-9am & 9-9:15am. Fortunately we stayed as long as we like in the gallery so all ended well.

The ticket counter had no line; I only needed to show them the the screen from head out to collect our tickets. There's a cafe attached; but plan to drink your beverage before going into the museumnor you will have to dump it, even if it has a cap for bottled water or gatorade.

Very easy to collect tickets. Pick up point was exactly where detailed. There was no skip the queue area that was mentioned but the museum had a very organised process for getting people in and the wait time was not long. Id recommend booking early tickets so you get the museum at a slightly quieter time before it gets busy.

Our guide was so friendly and knowledgeable. She gave us details and thoughts far beyond what we expected. My sister and I have taken many tours and both of us felt she's one of the best tour guides we've had.

Top things to do in Florence

  • Timed entry tickets are the most popular option and sell out quickly. You can walk in at your chosen slot and skip the long ticket queue. However, this doesn't let you bypass the ticket redemption line or security check — you’ll still need to factor in 15–30 mins of wait time at the entrance, especially during peak hours it can be 1-2 hours long. Book at least 2-3 days in advance, as time slots sell out quickly.
  • Skip-the-line guided tours are your best bet for a stress-free visit. You get to bypass both the ticket purchase and redemption lines. You’ll meet your guide, get your entry ticket, and walk straight in. With a local expert, you'll not only see the David but also learn about Michelangelo’s process, the unfinished Slaves, and the gallery’s rich collection of Renaissance art.
  • Hosted entry tickets are ideal if you want someone to take care of entry logistics.A host meets you outside the gallery, validates your ticket, and escorts you directly to the entrance — no lines, no confusion. It’s the easiest way to skip queues without joining a full tour. Keep in mind, though, that a host is not a guide—they won’t stay with you or provide commentary.
  • Audio guide options are great if you prefer going at your own pace. Available in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, and Chinese, these help you understand the artworks and context without a live guide. Combine them with hosted entry for maximum ease and flexibility.
  • If you're curious about Florence’s art scene or Michelangelo’s legacy, a private guided tour offers the most immersive experience. You’ll explore in an intimate setting with just your guide, enjoy a fully tailored itinerary, skip-the-line entry, and headsets to hear clearly even in crowded halls. Especially useful for families or art lovers who want more freedom to ask questions or take their time.
  • Combos with the Uffizi Gallery give you the best value. Florence’s top two art museums complement each other — Accademia focuses on sculpture and Michelangelo, while Uffizi houses Renaissance paintings from Botticelli, Leonardo, and more. Combo tickets and guided tours help you see both in one day and save money while you're at it.
